Earlier this year, President Obama and First Lady Michelle inked a deal with Netflix to produce several high profile projects for the streaming service. Now, it appears their first project is the adaptation of Michael Lewis’ book The Fifth Risk.
Lewis, who also wrote Moneyball, The Blind Side and The Big Short, just released The Fifth Risk in October which covers the chaos within the Department of Agriculture, Department of Energy, and Department of Commerce that took place during the transition between the Obama administration and the Trump administration.
Entertainment Weekly calls it “the most scathing takes on the president’s tenure thus far, interweaving research and interviews to paint an alarming portrait of an administration whose unpreparedness and incompetence have put the government’s stability and functionality in grave danger.”
Deadline is reporting that Lewis appeared on Katie Couric’s podcast to announce the project, saying the “potential series is a civics lesson…I did three departments, because it would be the work of many lifetimes to do the whole government, but you could do this in a fun way across the entire government.”
Neither Netflix nor President Obama’s press teams have commented on the news but with President Obama out on the campaign trail and Mrs. Obama set to release her new memoir, Becoming, they may be a little busy.
