Democrats in North Dakota running false Facebook ads telling people if they vote, they might lose their hunting license

According Sayanythingblog.com, Democrats in North Dakota have been running false ads on Facebook to discourage people from voting.

In the ad, it says that “if you vote in North Dakota, you may lose your hunting licenses you have in other states.”

When searching Facebook ad archives, the ad shows as active and is tied to and paid for by the North Dakota Democratic – NPL. Check it out for yourself here.

Rob Port, who broke the story reached out to state officials and here’s what they told him.

I contacted Secretary of State Al Jaeger and asked if he’d ever heard of this claim before. “No,” he told me. “We’re not involved at all in the requirements for getting a hunting license. A question like what you have needs to be directed to the Game & Fish Department. I doubt that there’s any connection.”

“We’ve never heard of that,” Randy Meissner, the licensing manager for North Dakota Game & Fish, told me when I contacted him and read him the text of the ad. I sent him the links and screenshots for the ad and he said he was going to run the claim by his administration.

Incumbent Democrat Heidi Heitkamp is expected to lose her seat so this seems like a last ditch desperate measure to keep people home from the polls on Election Day.
