Last Friday, Democrat Joe Donnelly announced he would be voting “no” on Kavanaugh’s nomination. In his statement, Donnelly said Dr. Ford’s allegations against Kavanaugh were serious enough that they merited an FBI investigation.
Well, Donnelly and the rest of the Democrats got exactly what they wanted. However, since stating the he would be voting against Kavanaugh, Donnelly hasn’t been real vocal about Kavanaugh. In fact, on his official Senate Twitter account, Donnelly has displayed or at least tried to display bipartisanship in a couple tweets since putting out last Friday’s statement.
There is nowdoubt Donnelly has backed himself into a corner. If the FBI investigation turns up nothing new on Kavanaugh, Donnelly has to vote for him, right? If he doesn’t vote for him and the FBI investigation turns up nothing then Donnelly’s statement was a complete farce.
He’s also up for re-election and very smartly, his opponent, Republican Mike Braun’s campaign is making an issue of this silence from Donnelly.
"After announcing he would oppose President Trump's highly qualified nominee, Donnelly has gone radio silent about Kavanaugh, proving he lacks the guts to reaffirm his decision to stand with Washington liberals and betray Hoosiers by opposing Kavanaugh." – spokesman Josh Kelley https://t.co/3FvPJdvu1u

There's no doubt about it, Pat. When his vote really matters like on Judge Kavanaugh, Senator Donnelly answers the call of his party over Hoosiers every time. #INSen https://t.co/i0CCVKGkha
