“I’m Batman” or that’s who actor Jon Hamm would like to play. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, The Tag actor mentioned his interest in playing the caped crusader. However, he says that while he has not mentioned his desire to play Gotham’s faithful defender to anyone (except in an interview for all to read), there would be conditions that would have to be met before taking on the job.
“It depends on the script, what the story is. I am a huge comic book fan, always have been. I’ve read comic books since I was 9 or younger. And I’m pretty knowledgeable about a lot of them. And I like the genre, and I like when they’re done well.”
Hamm’s comments come after it was revealed that Henry Cavill is likely out as Superman and with the knowledge that Ben Affleck is also probably done as Batman.
Would Hamm do the iconic role justice? Who knows, but DC and Warner Bros. have to do something to get the Justice League Universe on the right track. The films have been lackluster, to say the least. Maybe Hamm’s casting would be the thing to shake up those films and produce something watchable.
For my money though, no one will top Michael Keaton’s time as the brooding, sullen and insanely wealthy character.
