On the eve of the 17th anniversary of the September 11th attacks, Joe Scarborough, co-host of Morning Joe on MSNBC, decided to drop an op-ed in the Washington Post where he stated that President Trump “has done more damage to the dream of America than any foreign adversary ever could.”
He goes on to say “For those of us still believing that Islamic extremists hate America because of the freedoms we guarantee to all people, the gravest threat Trump poses to our national security is the damage done daily to America’s image.”
Really.
Nearly 3,000 people died on September 11th, Joe. And they continue to die because of cancer and other health problems related to the toxins released into the air after the World Trade Center collapsed.
Yet Trump is a greater threat to America than terrorists??
There is no good time to write something like that, but releasing it right before 9/11 is a real slap in the face to the families who lost people on that terrible day.
You, sir, are an asshole. I'm no Trump fan, but what you're saying is pure garbage.

dont like Trump but he has stoked the dream in me that a business owner can become president
That there's more than the career politican path to president
That the American dream of working your way to the top is alive

Comparing a President you don't like to a terrorist attack that killed hundreds and injured thousands of people and has scarred this country for over 15 years. You're flatout a disrespect imbecile using tragedy to push your political agenda.

So disrespectful to those who died & lost loved ones. Seriously, on the anniversary of one of the most horrific days in American History… @JoeNBC should be ashamed of yourself. @NBCNews this kind of crap is what continues to devides our country. You are part of the problem.

Even with all the backlash, Scarborough stands by his piece.
The column was focused on 17 years of strategic missteps. The last paragraph became the sole focus of Trump supporters. On every other day of the year, I do not shy away from negative feedback from the right, the left or from Trump supporters.

On September 11th, I’ll read the column again and think about whether I could have said the same thing in a way less offensive to Trump supporters on September 11th.
— Joe Scarborough (@JoeNBC) September 11, 2018
Maybe you should read some of those responses again, Joe.
It’s not just Trump supporters that are “offended” – it’s everyone, including those who don’t even like the President.
