For the last 17 years, James Clark has been waving an American flag over Indianapolis 465. He continues that tradition today, starting at 6 a.m. and ending at 6 p.m.
Clark told Fox 59: “It’s a sobering day for people in this country, particularly this city,” Clark said Tuesday morning. “I know the day the plane went down in Shanksville, a lot of those people from New York were re-routed to Indianapolis. This city was welcoming, encouraging and supportive for those people who were scared for their families back in New York City.”
Throughout the day, drivers will stop to bring him food and many will honk as they drive by to acknowledge his patriotism.
Clark encourages people to donate to Make-A-Wish and plans to continue the tradition for as long as he can.
