Kamala Harris spreads deceptively edited Kavanaugh video

The Democrats really will stop at nothing to try to spread false information about Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Kamala Harris shared a 10 second clip on her Twitter page of part of an answer Kavanaugh gave during his hearing. The clip shows Kavanaugh talking about birth control and is captioned “Kavanaugh chooses his words very carefully, and this is a dog whistle for going after birth control. He was nominated for the purpose of taking away a woman’s constitutionally protected right to make her own health care decisions. Make no mistake – this is about punishing women.”

This isn’t the entire answer, though and according to the New York Times, Kavanaugh was responding to a question from Texas Senator Ted Cruz  about his dissent in a case involving Priests for Life.

Brett Kavanaugh’s entire statement as published in The New York Times:

‘The group had objected to an accommodation offered by the Obama administration that allowed it to obtain a waiver by completing a form. They said filling out the form would make them complicit in the provision of the abortion inducing drugs that they were as a religious matter objecting to,” Judge Kavanaugh testified.

Nothing in that statement about Kavanaugh himself saying he believes birth control causes abortions or stating that he wants to go after birth control. It most definitely doesn’t lead one to believe that he wants to punish women for using contraceptives, but the headlines all over the internet were “Kavanaugh called birth control an abortion inducing drug.”

Google it for yourself if you don’t believe me.

What’s even sadder is the media also ran with it, spreading the disinformation even more.

In a day and age where news is heavily scrutinized, it’s extremely important to get the facts straight. That’s just good journalism. One expects politicians to lie to further their agenda, but we’re supposed to rely on the media to give us the whole story.

Sadly, when they’re also trying to influence the people’s perception of what’s going on in the Trump White House, we get stories like this instead.

Just tell the truth people – is that too much to ask?

  1. “woman’s constitutionally protected right to make her own health care decisions”

Could Ms. Harris be bothered to explain which amendment or precedent protects such a broad right? Oh, right…she’s also Spartacus.
