FLOTUS puts out statement on NYT anonymous op-ed

On Wednesday the New York Times published an anonymous op-ed from a “senior official” in the Trump administration. The opinion piece was not kind to President Donald Trump. It called into question his decision making, his temperament and his lack of guiding principles. Needless to say, the piece was not kind to Trump and as expected, the Donald responded.

As the president rightly points out, the writer of the New York Times article is a coward. Write and publish a damning piece, tell everyone how Trump is supposedly destroying the country and then not have the courage to put your name to it. It’s basically the textbook definition of cowardice.

Since then, the big question has been: who actually wrote it and will that person ever be found out or come forward?

Well, in addition to President Trump’s less-than-thrilled response, another member of the Trump family isn’t too happy either. First Lady of The United States Melania Trump even put out a statement addressing the NYT’s article and the usually quiet FLOTUS does not hold back.

In the article FLOTUS says:

“Freedom of speech is an important pillar of our nation’s founding principles and a free press is important to our democracy. The press should be fair, unbiased, and responsible.

Unidentified sources have become the majority of the voices people hear about in today’s news. People with no names are writing our nation’s history. Words are important and accusations can lead to severe consequences. If a person is bold enough to accuse people of negative actions, they have a responsibility to publicly stand by their words and people have the right to be able to defend themselves.

To the writer of the oped – you are not protecting this country, you are sabotaging it with your cowardly actions.”
