Hollywood actor Burt Reynolds has passed away at the age of 82. The star of such films as Smokey and the Bandit, Deliverance and Boogie Nights died Thursday in Jupiter, Florida.
The Hollywood legend had a nearly 60-year career with his his first credited role in 1958. During his illustrious career, Reynolds was nominated and won several awards, including winning two Golden Globes; one for the popular television series “Evening Shade” and for his role as a porn producer in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Boogie Nights. For his work in Boogie Nights, Reynolds also received his only Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
Reynolds married twice, including to actress Loni Anderson from 1988-1994.
Following new of his passing, many went to Twitter to express their grief and sadness.
Burt Reynolds was one of my heroes. He was a trailblazer. He showed the way to transition from being an athlete to being the highest paid actor, and he always inspired me. He also had a great sense of humor – check out his Tonight Show clips. My thoughts are with his family.
