Democratic-socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is still running for Congress in New York’s 14th District.
After some less than successful appearances on television, she seems to have found a new group of people to campaign to: children.
During her pitch to people who aren’t old enough to vote on Saturday, the Democrat says she “needs your help to fight Trump.” She then proceeds to tell the kids to tell everyone they know, “their mom, their dad, their aunt, their uncle, everyone over the age of 18.”
The campaigning to nonvoters continues as Ocasio-Cortez tells the kids that we need their relatives to vote “because if they don’t vote, we can’t kick out Trump.”
Listen, someone running for public office should be willing to talk to and listen to anyone regardless, if they are able to vote or not. But honestly, the optics of this whole thing just do not look good. Children shouldn’t be used as pawns in political campaigns by candidates to win election to office.
