Moviegoers can’t get enough of “Crazy Rich Asians” as it was the top box at the box office for the third week in a row. The popular flick brought in an additional $22 million this weekend, bring its total haul to $110 million, domestically.
Again, coming in at no. 2 was ‘The Meg” scared up another $10.5 million in its fourth weekend of release. “Mission Impossible: Fallout” saw a surprising resurgence finishing in the third spot with $7 million.
This weekend’s biggest new release: “Searching,” an inventively-shot and well-written thriller, ended in fifth place with $5.7 million.
Elsewhere, the Melissa McCarthy flick, “The Happytime Murders” continues to bomb. In just its second week of release the R-rated comedy came in at no. 8 as it only managed to bring in $4.4 million.
Next weekend, things get scary and violent as the horror flick “The Nun” and the Jennifer Garner revenge film, “Peppermint” open. Look for “Crazy Rich Asians” reign atop the box office come to an end as, I’m guessing “The Nun” wins next weekend.
