‘Crazy Rich Asians’ tops box office for second straight weekend

For the second straight weekend, “Crazy Rich Asians” took the No. 1 spot at the box office. The film took in an impressive $25 million.  Coming in second place again was the Jason Statham flick, “The Meg.” The shark film managed to scare up $13.1 million, on its runner up finishing position.

This weekend’s newest release, “The Happytime Murders” didn’t fair real well with audiences, only managing to scrounge up $10 million, which put it in a disappointing third place. The R-rated, Melissa McCarthy starring comedy didn’t do well with critics either. It only managed a 23 percent rotten rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

“Crazy Rich Asians” will look to hold onto the top spot for the third straight weekend next weekend, but will have some stiff competition. The inventively-shot thriller “Searching” goes wide next weekend and believe me you do not want to miss this one.  It’s easily one of the best film 2018 has given us up until this point.
