Indiana woman charged with helping ISIS

Assisting an organization hellbent on killing innocent, defenseless people is always a bad decision. Unfortunately, it looks like a former Indiana resident made the wrong choice and assisted ISIS.

Authorities believe Samantha Elhassani, 32, provided two ISIS fighters both money and tactical gear.

But wait…it wasn’t her fault.

Really? Yes, the former Elkhart resident says that her ex-husband tricked her into traveling to Syria.

The U.S. Department of Justice has charged the mother of four with aiding and abetting two ISIS members and also with providing false statements to law enforcement officials.

According to the Indianapolis Star, the woman’s lawyer, however, says the charges are bogus, claiming they are “wrong-headed and cruel.” Her lawyer also brought out the “I am a victim defense” by stating Elhassani is “a victim of her jihadist husband (who) should be receiving treatment rather than incarceration.”
