Shania Twain Apologizes for Saying She Would Have Voted for Trump

Country-pop superstar Shania Twain caused a stir yesterday when she said in an interview with The Guardian that if she would have been able to vote in the Presidential election that it would have been for Donald Trump.

Here’s the excerpt from that interview that caused such a ruckus on social media.

It is not the only way in which she expresses her conservatism. If she had been able to vote in the US election, she would have plumped for Donald Trump, she says. “I would have voted for him because, even though he was offensive, he seemed honest. Do you want straight or polite? Not that you shouldn’t be able to have both. If I were voting, I just don’t want bullshit. I would have voted for a feeling that it was transparent. And politics has a reputation of not being that, right?”

That’s it. In a very long interview, mostly about her life and career, this paragraph that was near the very end, caused people to lose their minds and prompted Twain to apologize/clarify what she meant.

This is really a non-story and why The Guardian even asked her about it is questionable. Twain is Canadian and therefore ineligible to vote in US elections, so it really doesn’t matter who she hypothetically might have voted for. Not to mention, it has nothing else to do with the profile piece about her life.

And if she had been able to vote for Donald Trump and felt that was the right choice – she shouldn’t apologize for anything.

Celebrities who say something different than what’s expected of them need to stop bowing to the liberal mob when they start crying about an opinion they don’t agree with. Last time I checked, people were free to think whatever they want and vote for whomever they like.
