Former NFL player Jay Feely posted a photo with his daughter and her date on Prom night. In the photo, Feely is holding a gun and the caption reads: “Wishing my beautiful daughter and her date a great time at prom #BadBoys.”

Unless you’ve been living under a rock your whole life, you’ve heard the joke about dads cleaning their guns while the boyfriend is at the house to send a signal not to do anything to hurt their daughter.
People were not amused. (I found it hilarious and obviously her prom date is in on it. )
The feminists somehow took it as a sign of ownership. Whatever.

Do you know that statistically you or a member of your family is far more likely to be shot by a family member or commit suicide than be killed by a burglar or an unknown assailant? If that’s OK by you, more power to you.

Some are even calling for him to be taken off CBS sports.
sorry @jayfeely, joking abt shooting high school students two months after Parkland isn't funny.

Feely apologized but HE SHOULDN’T HAVE TO. It was posted in fun, the weapon was not aimed at her boyfriend and people need to calm down and have a sense of humor.
The prom picture I posted was obviously intended to be a joke. My Daughter has dated her boyfriend for over a year and they knew I was joking.
I take gun safety seriously (the gun was not loaded and had no clip in) and I did not intend to be insensitive to that important issue— Jay Feely (@jayfeely) April 22, 2018
