Rex Tillerson is out as secretary of state. The change was announced by a number of outlets before the Trump tweeted out the news himself.
Mike Pompeo, Director of the CIA, will become our new Secretary of State. He will do a fantastic job! Thank you to Rex Tillerson for his service! Gina Haspel will become the new Director of the CIA, and the first woman so chosen. Congratulations to all!

In addition to announcing the ousting of Tillerson, Trump said CIA Director Mike Pompeo is his next choice for secretary of state. Additionally, the Donald also said Gina Haspel would become the next head of the CIA.
These moves come soon after Hope Hicks, the director of communications at the White House, and Cary Cohn, the chief economic advisor, both announced their intentions to leave.
The personnel turnover with this White House is pretty astounding. But given that Tillerson reportedly learned of his firing the same time the rest of the world did when Trump twitted the news, the high turnover can’t be a surprise.
Honestly, who would want to work with someone who operated in that fashion? I get the President of the United States is a busy person, but with as much as Trump apparently has his phone in his hand, given his frequent Twitter posts, wouldn’t have taken much to dial a number.
But at this point, it’s not if someone else will leave\be fired from this White House, it’s when.
