Animals are an important part of most peoples’ lives. They provide friendship, companionship and comfort. Whether you’re having a terrible day or you’re on top of the world, they are there to greet you as you come through the door at night.
Needless to say, those furry-four legged creatures or whatever form your pet may come in, become part of our family. But some people are taking this “part of the family” thing way too far.
It’s gone so far that more than 90,000 people feel that your tax dollars should be used to feed Fido.
Yes, you read that right. There is an online petition which more than 90,000 people have signed pushing for SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits for their pets.
Now, I understand that people fall on tough times, may need some help now and then, but if you’re not able to provide for yourself, what in the world are you doing with a pet?
I mean, let’s use our brains a little here. To think that my our your tax dollars should go to provide kibble for the mangy, flea infested, dog that won’t quit crapping on your freshly mowed lawn is insane.
Call me heartless if you must, but how entitled of a society have we become that nearly 100,000 people believe taxpayers should fund Buster’s lifestyle? When did owning a pet become a right that others must fund?
Ah yes, I remember: Life. Liberty. The Pursuit of happiness and whatever little Duke requires.
