Dana Loesch has been brutally attacked the last couple weeks by journalists (and now even a congresswoman) on the left who claim she uses the word “fist” instead of “fisk” in this NRA ad.
.@DLoesch has a message for the @nytimes: βWe're coming for you.β One
non-#fakenews story is not enough. #NRA #ClenchedFistofTruth pic.twitter.com/Hm1QkJi5Tp— NRATV (@NRATV) August 3, 2017
Fisk, in case you didn’t know, basically means to fact check and in the ad, Loesch calls for fact-checking of the NY Times. The NRA video series is called “Clenched Fist of Truth.” As you can imagine, things got nasty on Twitter toward Loesch AND liberals claimed she was inciting violence against the newspaper.
However, Yashar Ali of New York Magazine, Huff Post and Mother Jones decided things had gone a bit too far and issued this apology to Loesch yesterday.
1. Want to follow up on the Dana Loesch fist/fisk situation from last week. It's been bothering me on a number of levels..
— Yashar Ali π (@yashar) August 11, 2017
3. When I have called out the use of such language in past, some people have said to me "they asked for it" – no woman asks/deserves this
— Yashar Ali π (@yashar) August 11, 2017
5. For my mistake, I apologize unreservedly to @DLoesch – no one deserves to receive threats of any sort.
— Yashar Ali π (@yashar) August 11, 2017
6. For those of you who dislike @DLoesch or object to her politics/approach, it doesn't matter what she says/does – no one deserves threats
— Yashar Ali π (@yashar) August 11, 2017
8. A lie means there is intent, intent to deceive. I didn't lie – I genuinely thought, and I wasn't the only one, that she said "fist"
— Yashar Ali π (@yashar) August 11, 2017
9. "Fisk" isn't a word that is commonly used, + the NRA tweet also used the word "fist" in the tweet. NRA tweet also used 1 min of 4 min ad pic.twitter.com/rYVZM31hFK
— Yashar Ali π (@yashar) August 11, 2017
11. I am a gun owner, not an NRA member. While I fervently disagree with NRA's ad campaign and @DLoesch's messaging, no one deserves threats
— Yashar Ali π (@yashar) August 11, 2017
13. My mistake led her to getting threats and misogynistic language hurled at her and that's what I'm apologizing to her for. END
— Yashar Ali π (@yashar) August 11, 2017
Dana graciously accepted his apology.
I appreciate and accept @yashar βs apology. In a climate such as this, itβs important we celebrate civility and give grace. https://t.co/Ph1ZzQrQ0j

But before the dust settled on the previous attack from Ali, she was then dealt ANOTHER blow from New York Congresswoman, Kathleen Rice, who decided to call Dana and ALL members of the NRA domestic security threats under the Trump administration.
I'm just going to say it. #NRA & @DLoesch are quickly becoming domestic security threats under President Trump. We can't ignore that.
— Kathleen Rice (@RepKathleenRice) August 11, 2017
If @RepKathleenRice thinks I and millions of NRA members are βdomestic threats,β then have us arrested. Start with me.
— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) August 11, 2017
Conservative women like Loesch are increasingly being attacked by members of the left, especially those who strongly support the Second Amendment. Calling Dana and ALL members of the NRA terrorists is completely outrageous and infuriating.
Many NRA members are former and current members of our military. More importantly, they are LEGAL gun owners who follow their state regulations for buying and carrying firearms.
Rice should apologize to Dana and the millions of NRA (and non-NRA) gun owners she just insulted. However, according to a statement from her spokesperson, Β it doesn’t look like that will be happening anytime soon.
